When Munich comes to mind, Marienplatz would not be far away from the heart. Marienplatz is a central square in the city centre of Munich, Germany. While Marienplatz can be considered the city center, there are many places to explore outside this city center via the subway system. It has been the city’s main square since 1158. It takes some time to get a hold of the U Bahn and S Bahn subway system. It is easy to get to places like the Deutsches Museum, AllianzARENA stadium and the many castles and palaces i.e. Nymphenburg Palace within the city .

If you have more time and adventurous to move outside of city you can explore the famous Neuschwanstein ( it was the inspiration for Walt Disney castle) , Linderhof Castle ( for a good view of the Alps) and Chimsee Castle ( if you want to fell like stranded on an island in a lake).

August would be a good time to explore the outdoor here in Munich . Take time to chill out after a long day of walking at the al fresco cafe , English Garden or beer gardens located across the city. Munich’s HAUPBAHNHOF is a strategic train station to get to many places around Munich i.e. Salzburg ( where the famous and classical Sound of Music was filmed) ,Rothenburg ob der Tauber (the well-preserved medieval old town in the district of Ansbach of Mittelfranken, the Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany)

Maybe this time I will revisit Regensberg, where I had my my experience of everything German and German culture back 2 decade ago when I started my career. The hidden gem there includes the Walhalla is a hall of fame that honors laudable and distinguished people in German history – “politicians, sovereigns, scientists and artists ” The hall is a neo-classical building above the Danube River, east of Regensburg in Bavaria. Another interesting gem architecture is the Befreiungshalle (“Hall of Liberation” ) which is a Neoclassical monument on the Michelsberg hill above the town of Kelheim in Bavaria, Germany. It stands upstream of Regensburg on the river Danube at the confluence of the Danube. I wonder what has time made of these beautiful and historical architecture. Not forgetting the St Peter Cathedral and Stone Bridge (Steinerne Brücke) in Regensberg itself is a sight to behold, have a coffee and black forest cake at a cafe overlooking the slow pace of life here, reminiscent on my life in Regensberg almost 2 decades ago and the legend that comes with the St Peter Cathedral and Stone Bridge.

Keep you updated.

Looking forward to August where I will be in Munich, Germany for a week or so.
