It is well known for its well-preserved medieval old town, a destination for tourists from around the world.The name &#8220;Rothenburg ob der Tauber&#8221; means, in German, &#8220;Red fortress above the Tauber&#8221;. This is so because the town is located on a plateau overlooking the Tauber River.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>I stayed a night there and went out to immense myself in the night view of this beautiful and mystical old town. The next morning , I went to explore the town wall and typical cobbled lane in the old town. Stopped by at a cafe for some special local pastry.&nbsp;The local delicacies here is the snowball . Basically is is a rounded bread , soft in the inside and&nbsp; crispy on the outside sprinkled with fine sugary coating (looks like snow).<\/p>\n\n\n<p>I went for a stroll in the cold autumn night and the medieval town is quiet but spectacular , brightly lighted and it gives me a sense of history . So you can reach this beautiful small , medieval town from Munich via train from Munich Airport to the small train station shown above.
